   Understanding two States an Integrated project- (Geography, History, Science and Maths) Class 8 & 9

We know climate and topography has made a major impact on the lifestyle of people in different parts of the world over centuries.

Learning Outcome:

1.Students will learn to infer from the information collected on how various events and natural landforms affect the decisions man takes with respect to developing culture and lifestyle.

2. Students will be able to integrate the information they have acquired in previous classes to different concepts taught in different subjects like Maths, science and social sciences with one big idea of how evolves culture over period of time.

You need to look into two states in the country  Haryana and Telengana and find the following information for both of them:

  1. Latitude and Longitude
  2. Maps of the two states and their capitals and important 3 cities in these states in the year 2020
  3. Crops
  4. Climate type
  5. Landforms
  6. Vegetation
  7. Natural wildlife & national parks
  8. Water bodies
  9. Avg Temperature for every month (make a table for all 12 months with average of highest and lowest temp in these two states)
  10. Local dress (type of material used to make the dresses)
  11. Languages spoken
  12. Local Food
  13. 2-3 Historical monuments in these states built between (900 AD-1900AD) and the rulers who built them?
  14. What were the names of these states before the independence? Trace the empires they were ruled by from 900AD-1900AD

  1. Find the difference between the vegetation and give reasons why are they so? Give more than 3 differences between the vegetation types found in these regions.
  2. Do find an interrelation between the two attributes for each state like- temperature and landforms and the natural vegetation that is found in the region?
  3. Why is there a difference in the types of crops that grow in these states?
  4. Do you see a correlation between the crops grown and the staple food and the type of clothes people wear in these two States? Explain in detail.
  5. Do you agree that the change in temperature in two states is because of its latitude and longitude location? Give valid reason for your answer.
  6. Looking at the monuments and dynasties who built them, do you think Telengana region was safe from invasions for more number of centuries than Haryana region? Can you give a valid reason for this hypothesis?
  7. After doing this exercise do you still agree: Climate and topography has made a major impact on the culture of people in different parts of the world over centuries? Explain this statement taking reference from the above example on how these attributes have impacted the culture of these state. (100 words)
